Our history
Brits Dreyer has its roots in the erstwhile renowned firm Silberbauers Inc., which had been conducting business in Bellville since 1957. Gerhard Brits served his articles with Silberbauers Inc. and later became a partner. When Silberbauers Inc. closed its doors in 1999, following a merger with attorneys Cliffe Dekker of Johannesburg, Gerhard Brits, the managing partner of the Bellville office, requested the opportunity to retain the office and the practice in order to address the needs of existing clients.
Therefore, from 1999 to 2004 the office continued to practice under the name Silberbauers-Brits. In 2005, the name of the practice was changed to Brits Dreyer Inc.

Gerhard Brits (Director)
Gerhard Brits holds the degrees BCom (Law) and LLB from the University of Stellenbosch, which were awarded in 1979 and 1981 respectively. He is an admitted Attorney, Conveyancer and Notary and is the former managing partner of Silberbauers Brits Inc. Since 2000, Gerhard has been involved with the Law Society of South Africa to lecture and present courses for Attorneys who endeavour to qualify as Notaries and Conveyancers.

Reghard Brits (Director)
Reghard Brits holds the degrees BCom (Law), LLB and LLD from Stellenbosch University, awarded in 2007, 2009 and 2012 respectively. He is an admitted Attorney and Conveyancer (since May 2023). From 2016 to 2021, he was a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor at the University of Pretoria. He joined Brits Dreyer Inc. He joined Brits Dreyer Inc in 2022.
He is an Extraordinary Professor in the Department of Mercantile and Labour Law at the University of the Western Cape as well as a Research Fellow of the Department of Private Law at Stellenbosch University.
